Who am I? We all ask ourselves that question throughout our lives. I am learning more about who I am through every season of life. This year, however, has been a season of growth and deepened identity beyond anything I have ever known.
I am the daughter of two compassionate, wise and loving parents. I am the sister of a man who is an exceptional dad, husband, provider and laugh generator for his family. I am a granddaughter. I have one living grandparent and cherish my time with her. I also hold the gifts from my grandparents, who have already passed, near to my heart as they have shaped me in ways even I don't understand, but am grateful for. I am a niece, cousin, aunt, sister-n-law, friend, etc. I have many roles in this world and they all have shaped me in important ways. Yet, none of these relationships truly capture who I am.
Above all else, I am a daughter of God. For years, I tried to find my identity in other people or things, including parents, friends, a job, a significant other. Once my eyes were opened to Who created me and that my identity is defined by who He says I am, THAT is when I came alive.
Each step I take, I am becoming more of who I was created to be. This is an exciting and purpose-filled journey that will continue as long as I live.
